Meet the Woman Behind 35 Years of Healing in Fiji.

Usha Krishna-Gfeller has dedicated her career to one purpose:

giving every patient in Fiji access to world-class physiotherapy care.

A Career Built Around People

Usha was born with a love of sport and a drive to help others recover. She trained at the Fiji School of Medicine and went on to work as a physiotherapist in the United States — where she discovered myofascial release, a hands-on technique that would shape everything she built in Fiji. She later worked in Switzerland before returning home in 1998 with a single purpose: open a clinic that put patients first.

When she opened Physiotherapy Clinic Fiji at 73 Suva Street, she became only the second physiotherapist in the entire country running a private practice. That took conviction. That took courage.

Over the next 35 years, her reputation grew — not through advertising, but through results. Patients who first came to see her 20 and 25 years ago still return. Not because they have nowhere else to go — but because they trust her completely. In healthcare, that trust is everything.

Internationally Credentialed. Locally Committed.

Usha's qualifications span the highest levels of clinical practice and international governance in the physiotherapy profession.

Olympics & Paralympics Physiotherapist

Usha has served as a physiotherapist for Team Fiji at the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Oceania Games, Mini Games, and more — representing Fiji on the world stage for over 25 years.

Physiotherapy Clinic Fiji Usha Krishna World Physiotherapy Asia Western Pacific

Former Vice Chair, WPT Asia West Pacific Organization

The Asia West Pacific Organisation is the regional body for the World Physiotherapy Organisation — the global governing body for the profession. Usha held this position for seven years, representing physiotherapists across Asia and the Pacific at the highest international level.

Past President, Fiji Physiotherapy Association

Usha has served as Vice President and past President of the Fiji Physiotherapy Association, helping shape the standards, licensing frameworks, and professional growth of physiotherapy across the country.

Secretary & Treasurer — FASANOC Medical Commission

Usha volunteered for years as a physiotherapist on the medical commission of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee — supporting Fiji's athletes at the elite level.

Myofascial Release Specialist

Trained in the USA in the early 1990s, Usha brought myofascial release to Fiji and has since personally trained every physiotherapist at her clinic in the technique. It forms the backbone of how the clinic treats patients today.

Bell's Palsy Specialist

One of the very few clinicians in Fiji with deep, consistent clinical experience in treating Bell's Palsy and facial nerve conditions. Usha is frequently sought for second opinions and specialist referrals.

35+ Years Clinical Experience

Trained and practiced in Fiji, the United States, and Switzerland. Internationally tested, locally dedicated.

We Believe in Hands. Not Machines.

When you visit Physiotherapy Clinic Fiji, you won't be connected to a machine and left to sit alone. Every session is led by a qualified physiotherapist — and at least 25 to 30 minutes of every 40-minute appointment is active, hands-on manual therapy.

This is deliberate. It is how Usha has always practised. And it is why patients get better.

The entire clinical team has been personally trained in myofascial release by Usha. That means whether you see Usha or one of her physiotherapists, you receive care grounded in the same internationally proven technique — applied by people who truly know how to use their hands.

“Machines are probably 10–15% of the treatment. What we do is a lot of myofascial release, stretches and exercises. I can assure you — if we're giving a 40-minute session, at least 25 to 30 minutes is hands-on.”

Our Clinical Team

All physiotherapists at Physiotherapy Clinic Fiji hold Bachelor's degrees in the profession. Several are currently completing postgraduate studies. Each has been trained in myofascial release under Usha's direct mentorship — ensuring every patient receives care grounded in the same technique and clinical standards that have defined this clinic for over three decades.
